Bike bridge over Des Plaines River closed for repairs

Equipment is in place and erosion controls and protective netting installed as part of the monthlong rehabilitation of the Route 22 bike bridge over the Des Plaines River in Lincolnshire.

The bike bridge is fully closed to all users until about May 18. Signs have been posted at either end of the bridge informing trail users of the upcoming trail closure and the alternate route of the Deerfield Road crossing of the Des Plaines River.

The project involves minor structural repairs to the bridge support beams and replacing the wooden riding surface of the entire bridge to extend its life and keep it safe for users.

Call the village public works department (847) 883-8600 weekdays until 3 p.m. or (847) 883-9900 after hours.
