Lisle cops probing prank that drew large police response

Lisle police are investigating what they believe was a prank call - known as "swatting" - to draw a large number of officers to an apartment building on the 4700 block of St. Joseph Creek Road.

Police said they received the call at 7:43 a.m. Thursday from a male claiming he had shot and killed his father in the apartment. Officers responded and established a perimeter around the building.

Police said they established telephone contact with the apartment resident, who told them he was in Chicago. Chicago police verified the man's location and a consent search of his apartment revealed no criminal activity had occurred there.

The Lisle resident was not the person who placed the call, police said.

There is no known threat to the community, authorities said, but Lisle police and other law enforcement agencies are investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (630) 271-4200.
