North Aurora police investigating shooting

A woman was slightly injured Tuesday night after someone shot at her car on the east side of North Aurora, police said.

An anonymous caller told police they heard six shots around 10:40 p.m., but saw nothing on the 200 block of Linn Court. Officers found no evidence and cleared the call.

A short time later, officers were dispatched to a grocery store parking lot at 151 Hansen Blvd., on the west side of town, for a possible gunshot victim.

They found a 24-year-old Sugar Grove woman in a silver Chevrolet Malibu who either had been grazed by a bullet or struck by debris. The car had been hit by several bullets.

She told police she had gone to Linn Court to pick up a 32-year-old Aurora man, and as she was backing out of a parking space, one or two men walked up to the passenger side and shot at the car.

Neither she nor her passenger could describe the attackers, police said.

Broken glass and spent shell casings later were found in some grass on Linn. Police also found another vehicle, a Chevrolet Equinox, that was struck by bullets.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Investigations Division at (630) 897-8705, ext. 610; or hit option 3 to leave an anonymous tip. Information also may be given to Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
