Geneva school board picks new business chief

The Geneva school board has hired Dean Romano as assistant superintendent of business services.

Romano starts July 1. He replaces Donna Oberg, who has been on medical leave since April 28, 2017. Her retirement, effective June 30, was approved in January.

Romano is the chief operating officer for Yorkville schools. He has a master's degree in school business management and a doctorate in educational leadership. He is on the Illinois Association of School Business Officials' board of directors.

Oberg worked for the Geneva district for 10 years.

Romano will oversee finances, facilities, transportation and food service.
