Pedestrian fatally struck near Cary identified as Crystal Lake man

A pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle Friday just outside Cary has been identified as 20-year-old Jacob Rokusek of Crystal Lake, authorities said.

An autopsy performed Tuesday determined Rokusek died from blunt trauma to the head and chest after he was hit by a vehicle on the 1300 block of East Main Street, according to McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski.

Authorities say Rokusek was lying in the roadway when a Chevrolet Cobalt struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:46 p.m., Majewski said.

The driver of the Chevrolet was taken with nonlife-threatening injuries to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
