Chaplin wins Democratic nod in Dist. 2

The only Democrat on the 18-member DuPage County Board, Elizabeth Chaplin of Downers Grove, will get a chance to defend her District 2 seat in the November election.

She will joined by Arleme Kendorski of Downers Grove, who slightly edged out Claire Goldenberg of Lisle for the second nomination.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Chaplin had received 9,907 votes Tuesday. Kendorski scored 5,281 votes for 26 percent of the vote, while Goldenberg took in 5,054 votes for 25 percent of the vote.

The top two finishers will face Republicans Peter DeCianni and Steve Nero, who were unopposed in their party's primary.

District 2 includes portions of Addison, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Lisle, Lombard, Naperville, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Villa Park, Westmont and Woodridge.
