Lake in the Hills man faces nine drug-related charges
The McHenry County sheriff's office arrested a man suspected of nine charges Wednesday after a monthlong investigation.
Ahmed A. Baig, 24, was taken into custody at his residence in the 3800 block of Peartree Lane in Lake in the Hills by the sheriff's office's narcotics task force. The Lake in the Hills Police Department worked with the narcotics division of the McHenry County sheriff's office for a month to investigate allegations of drug dealing.
According to the sheriff's office, items seized from Baig's residence included: $1,263, 51 Alprazolam pills, 8 Lorazepam pills, 65 grams of marijuana, 4 grams of cannabis edibles, cocaine residue, packaging materials and a digital scale. Detectives estimate the street value of the drugs found in the residence at about $1,970.
Baig has been charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver, destruction of evidence, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful of drug paraphernalia, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Baig's next court date has not been scheduled yet.
