Geneva modifies brush pickup service

Geneva is modifying the collection zones for monthly brush pickup beginning April 2.

It did so to distribute the workload more evenly. The change primarily affects residents living in the downtown area and just west of the Fox River.

The new map divides the city in two zones. The boundary line is Western Avenue from the city limit north to South Street; South Street east to Seventh Street; Seventh north to State Street; State west to Anderson Boulevard; and Anderson north to the city limit.

See a map at geneva.il.us.

Zone 1 pickup dates are the weeks of April 2, May 7, June 4, July 2, Aug. 6, Sept. 3, Oct. 1 and Nov. 5.

Zone 2 pickup dates are the weeks of April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 8 and Nov. 12.

Residents should place brush and limbs on the parkway by 7 a.m. Monday on their scheduled week. Crews will not return to a neighborhood until the next scheduled pickup.

Tree branches must be stacked with the cut ends facing in one direction toward the curb or edge of the pavement - not in the street. Branches and stumps cannot exceed 12 inches in diameter, and tree limbs should be less than 12 feet long.

Do not tie bundles of branches.

Yard waste pickup starts April 5. It will be collected weekly through November on the regular garbage pickup days.
