Up to 2 inches of snow expected Monday night

After a stretch of springlike weather last week, forecasters are predicting another round of snow to hit the suburbs Monday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 6 p.m. to midnight in Cook, DuPage, and Lakecounties. Two inches of heavy, wet snow could accumulate during that time.

The advisory runs from 3 p.m. to midnight for Kane and McHenry counties.

The winter weather could make for hazardous travel conditions, including slippery, snow-covered roads and reduced visibility, according to the weather service. Forecasters are warning drivers to allow time for delays and use caution while driving.

Temperatures are expected to reach the high 30s on Monday before gradually dropping throughout the week. More snow is possible Tuesday, forecasters say.
