$100K damage, but no injuries in Streamwood attic fire

An estimated $100,000 damage was caused to a Streamwood home during an early morning fire in an attic Saturday, fire officials said. No one was injured.

Streamwood Fire Chief Chris Clark said rescue crews were called to the 300 block of Hillside Drive at 2:22 a.m. Saturday.

All of the home's occupants were safely outside when firefighters arrived. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which officials believe began in an attic and could be electrical in nature, Clark said.

The house is not inhabitable and heat from the fire melted some vinyl siding on a nearby home. Clark said. "It's not uncommon for that to happen," he added.
