Driver critically injured in crash near Antioch

A 51-year-old Antioch man is in critical condition after the vintage sports car he was driving crashed Saturday night near Antioch.

According to the Lake County Sheriff, deputies found a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette with extensive damage off Grass Lake Road west of Bluff Lake Road at around 8:04 p.m.

Deputies said a preliminary investigation indicated the vehicle was headed west on Grass Lake Road when it left the road near the curve and came to rest in the north ditch.

The driver, who was thrown from the vehicle, was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition. His name has not been released.

The car, black with a red interior, was severely damaged.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
