Wheeling rolls out app to help residents save on water bills

Wheeling has implemented an app to help residents track water usage.

AquaHawk Alerting, a free web application, can send alerts when it detects unusual increases in water usage, potentially notifying residents of leaks before they become costly, officials said. The app lets users decide how often and under what circumstances they receive alerts.

"AquaHawk represents a great opportunity for the village and its water users to conserve resources, protect our infrastructure and save users money," Village Manager Jon Sfondilis said in a news release. "But it will only be effective if our users sign up."

The village encourages all residents, businesses, and organizations to register with AquaHawk at https://wheeil.aquahawk.us/.

Registration requires the user's service address, contact information and water billing account number. Account numbers can be found on users' water bills or provided by finance department staff.
