Palatine's Lamplighter Inn back with Outdoor Family Fun Nights

Lamplighter Inn Tavern and Grille has gained permission to once again host weekly Outdoor Family Fun Nights in downtown Palatine.

Outdoor Family Fun Nights will be every Friday, weather permitting, from 5 to 8 p.m. on the southeast corner of the establishment at 60 N. Bothwell St. The event will start on Memorial Day weekend and end over the Labor Day weekend, Lamplighter Inn co-owner Lisa Bellanca told the Palatine village council this week.

"We've been doing a family fun night the last six years," Bellanca said. "We provide an acoustic musician, a face painter for the kids. We invite the police (and fire) department, or anybody who wants to come out, to come out and give stickers to the kids. We give them chalk and they write on our building."

Village council members granted Lamplighter permission to block off and use four public parking spaces on Bothwell for the weekly mini-festival. Bellanca said not having vehicles using the spaces next to Lamplighter during Outdoor Family Fun Nights is expected to improve patron safety, particularly for children.

High-top tables will be placed in the reserved street spots on Lamplighter's east side. Water bowls will be available for well-behaved pets on leashes.
