State Senate, House candidates to appear at Arlington Heights forum Sunday

Candidates in a pair of primary contests for Northwest suburban state legislative seats are scheduled to appear Sunday at a League of Women Voters forum in Arlington Heights.

Hosted by the league's Arlington Heights-Mount Prospect-Buffalo Grove Areas chapter, the event takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Northwest Community Hospital Auditorium, 800 W. Central Road.

The first hour will feature Democrats Ann Gillespie of Arlington Heights and Joe Sonnefeldt of Mount Prospect, who are running for the party's nomination to the 27th District Senate seat. The winner will face Republican Sen. Tom Rooney of Rolling Meadows in November.

Then at 2 p.m., Republican candidates for the 53rd District House seat, Eddie Corrigan of Arlington Heights and Katie Miller of Mount Prospect will get the floor. The winner of their primary is expected to face Democrat Mark Walker of Arlington Heights.
