Police: Lincolnshire man had 350 Valium pills in his house

An investigation by Lincolnshire police and U.S. postal authorities has led to the arrest of a 51-year-old man who had more than 350 Valium pills in his house, authorities said.

Donald R. Franz, of the 100 block of Surrey Lane in Lincolnshire, was charged Thursday with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Police Cmdr. Kimberly Covelli said police began an investigation into Franz in January. Investigators discovered he had been ordering drugs on the internet and having them shipped to his house, she said. After reaching out to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for help, Lincolnshire police obtained a warrant to search Franz's house and found the pills, she said.

"They are a great resource," Covelli said of the postal authorities. "Sometimes they need our help, sometimes we need their help."

Franz's bail was set at $10,000 Friday.
