Authorities say Naperville man is tied to 'numerous' identity theft cases
An investigation that involved two police departments and the U.S. Secret Service has resulted in charges of fraud, identity theft and forgery against a Naperville man, authorities said Friday.
Brenton C. Thurman II, 27, of the 0-100 block of Olesen Drive, has been charged in connection with "numerous" incidences of credit card fraud, identity theft and forgery, and Naperville police Cmdr. Lou Cammiso said the case may involve even more reported crimes before it concludes.
Cammiso said cases of fraud and identity theft are fairly common, "and we tend to solve them in clumps."
Cammiso said evidence police and the Secret Service found Wednesday when they searched Thurman's home ties him to roughly 15 to 20 reported cases of fraud, identity theft and forgery, but the investigation continues.
"Now that we have him for the cases we know he did, we'll try to track back and solve other ones," Cammiso said.
Thurman has been charged with one count of forgery, two counts of identity theft and one count of possession of an altered credit card - all felony offenses, authorities said.
After the search of his home, police took Thurman to DuPage County jail.
