Buffalo Grove police to spread kindness Friday

Police officers from Buffalo Grove and the Canadian National Railway will be handing out free coffee and other items Friday morning at the Buffalo Grove Train Depot, 825 Commerce Court, to mark National Random Acts of Kindness Day.

"These two departments greatly enjoyed interacting with our community members last year," Buffalo Grove Police Chief Steven Casstevens said in a news release. "While kindness can be shown year-round, it is great to set aside one day to truly focus on brightening someone else's day."

The agencies worked along with Janet Smith, owner of Java Junction, to organize the event. Officers will be on hand beginning at 5:30 a.m., until the departure of the 7:27 a.m. train.
