Aurora man accused of residential burglary

A 28-year-old Aurora man, Christopher B. Mosher, has been charged with residential burglary at a house on the 400 block of South Ohio, authorities said Wednesday.

Aurora police said they responded to an alarm around 7 a.m. Feb. 7 and the first officer on the scene found footprints in the snow made by shoes that left a distinct impression. The prints led to a smashed sliding glass door at the back of the house.

He called for backup, and when two other officers arrived they entered the house but did not find the intruder.

When the two brothers who live in the house returned, they reported an electronic game system and its components, worth roughly $750, were missing.

During their preliminary investigation, police learned the name of a suspect who lived in the same area.

When they went to Mosher's home on the 900 block of Walter Avenue, two of the officers noted the same shoe print impressions in the snow as those at the crime scene. When they checked for active arrest warrants against Mosher, they discovered one out of the Grundy County sheriff's office for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and arrested him, police said

One of the officers then noticed a gaming system in Mosher's living room and when he checked the serial number, found it to be the same one taken in the burglary, police said. The components are still missing.
