Three boys escape Aurora fire that left home uninhabitable

Three boys escaped unharmed over the weekend after fire broke out in the garage of their home on Aurora's East Side, authorities said. Aurora fire officials said a 15-year-old boy smelled smoke, opened the interior garage door to see the fire and attempted to put it out with a fire extinguisher. After that was unsuccessful, he shut the door and was able to get out of the home with the two other boys, both 10, and the family dog. Full story.

Elgin High schoolers spread kindness through suburbs

Snow kept them indoors Sunday morning, but a dedicated group of Elgin High School students followed through with their part in a regional event to spread kindness. For 90 minutes, a small contingent from the girls varsity soccer team and their manager patrolled The Centre of Elgin fitness facility washing windows and handing out bottled water and snacks. Naperville man charged with entering woman's bedroom early Saturday

A 23-year-old Naperville man was behind bars in the DuPage County jail yesterday facing allegations he unlawfully entered a woman's bedroom early Saturday, police said. Deonte Ware, of the 1400 block of Fairway Drive, is charged with felony criminal trespass to land stemming from the incident on the 900 block of Fairway Drive, authorities said. Full story.

Olympics: Canada takes gold in team figure skating event

Canada clinched the top spot in the team figure skating event early this morning in Pyeongchang when Gabrielle Daleman finished third behind Russian Alina Zagitova and American Mirai Nagasu in the women's event.
