Breathe deep. The interval workout of intermittent shoveling is soon to come to an end.
The suburbs are in for another 2 to 5 inches of snow Saturday night into Sunday. But after that, meteorologists with the National Weather Service's Chicago office in Romeoville predict clearing conditions for several days.
The next round of snow is expected to begin about midnight and continue into early Sunday afternoon. Areas in far northwestern McHenry County could see slightly less snow, with 1 to 2 inches predicted. But the rest of the region is in store for 2 to 5 inches, meteorologists say.
After that, meteorologists predict high pressure — which typically brings clear skies — will build across the region until a cold front is expected to come through Thursday or Thursday night.
AccuWeather predicts high temperatures in the mid-20s Sunday and Monday before the thermometer will rise to about 30 degrees on Tuesday and 42 on Wednesday.
The suburbs already have seen the heaviest snows of the season during the past week. A long-lasting storm Thursday night into Friday dumped 6 to 10 inches across the area, and many spots saw another inch or two by Saturday morning.
