Fire damages Hoffman Estates home Tuesday

No injuries were reported Tuesday night after fire broke out in a home on the 5600 block of Angouleme Lane in Hoffman Estates, causing an estimated $50,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire at the two-story, single-family home remained under investigation Wednesday. The home's residents were not home when the fire occurred.

Firefighters received the call at 8:18 p.m. No smoke or flames were immediately apparent upon their arrival, but fire was spotted on the outside wall near the electrical box for the central air unit.

Water was applied to the outside of the house, and the front door was forced open to bring a hose line to the basement to extinguish the fire completely.

Seventeen Hoffman Estates firefighters and the fire chief responded. Assistance was provided by the Hoffman Estates police and public works departments, ComEd and Nicor.
