Suburban squads advance to state cheerleading finals

Suburban cheerleading squads in four divisions advanced Friday to Saturday's final round of the IHSA state championships at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.

Timothy Christian in Elmhurst emerged from the prelims in the small division. Among medium teams, Crystal Lake Central, Antioch, Burlington Central, Grayslake Central and Grayslake North advanced to Saturday's finals.

In the large team division, Neuqua Valley, Huntley, Stevenson, Jacobs and Prospect made the final 10.

Co-ed teams that will compete on Saturday's finals include Grant, South Elgin, Metea Valley, Buffalo Grove and Glenbard East.
