Clerk threatened with knife in Fox Lake robbery

Fox Lake police are investigating an armed robbery at the Phillips 66 gas station at 20 N. Route 12.

Police said the thief entered station around 4:40 a.m. Friday, threatened the clerk with a knife and presented a note demanding money.

The robber fled on foot after the clerk handed over a small amount of cash. The robber was described as a heavy white man from 20 to 30 years old and standing 5 foot 9 inches tall. He was wearing a camouflage scarf over mouth and nose and had what appeared to be surgical tape cut into strips outlining his eyes. He also was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue or green cargo pants.
