Gov. Bruce Rauner promised Thursday to sign an executive order that would prevent state lawmakers from handling tax appeals cases. Legislators are currently able to represent clients before the Illinois Property Tax Appeals Board, which hears complaints about property tax assessments. Four suburban Catholic schools to close at end of school year

The Archdiocese of Chicago announced Thursday that it will close four suburban Catholic schools due to falling enrollment and financial troubles. The more than 600 students at St. Cyprian School in River Grove, Holy Cross School in Deerfield, Incarnation School in Palos Heights and Our Lady of the Ridge School in Chicago Ridge will have to find new schools for the 2018-2019 school year.
