Inaugural seed swap at Fremont library

Gardeners can add to or share bounties from their vegetable, herb, and flower gardens at the inaugural community seed swap at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Fremont public library, 1170 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein. Participants can bring their open-pollinated or heirloom seeds (no hybrids, since they don't breed true) to trade. Make sure each one is labeled with who collected it, the year it was collected, and the genus and species or common name, and the variety, if known. Collections also will be taken for the second season of a seed library. Visit www.fremontlibrary.org to register or call (847) 566-8702.
