Morning snow causing long delays on suburban roads

The National Weather Service Tuesday morning issued a winter weather advisory for Cook and Lake counties until noon.

Up to two more inches of snow could fall early Tuesday. People should expect a slippery commute, and plan for reduced visibility due to the weather.

Sigalert is reporting that heavy traffic delays are already popping up due to the snow.

Accidents are being reported near Long Grove, Rolling Meadows, and the Interstate 88/Interstate 294 corridor.

WBBM radio reported within the hour long delays on the eastbound Jane Addams Tollway from Route 25 in Elgin to the Kennedy Expressway.

South Elgin, Downers Grove and Elk Grove Village have already seen significant snowfall in the last 24 hours, according to the Community Collaborative Rain, Snow and Hail Network.
