Winter weather advisory extended until 3 p.m. today

The National Weather Service has extended the winter weather advisory until 3 p.m. today for most of northeastern Illinois.

And additional 1 inch of snow is expected through mid afternoon.

Drivers should be prepared for slippery roads, blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Monday and Tuesday will remain very cold with highs in the low 20s and lows of 9 on Monday and 6 on Tuesday.
