Spring Valley fest draws hardy souls outside

The chilly weather kept many inside, but there was plenty of incentive to get outdoors for those brave enough to face the elements Sunday at the Schaumburg Park District's annual Spring Valley Winter Fest.

Held at the Vera Meineke Nature Center at Spring Valley, the fest featured horse-drawn wagon rides, winter-themed crafts and games and roasting marshmallows on a winter bonfire.

The event also include animal displays featuring a wolf and coyote, as well as a frozen play area for children.
