McHenry County College Board appoints chair, new trustee

The McHenry County College Board recently tapped longtime trustee Linda Liddell to lead the board and replace former board chairman Chris Jenner who resigned in November to move to Florida.

Liddell, of Crystal Lake, was elected in 2011 and has served on the board more than six years, most recently as its representative to the Illinois Community College Trustees Association.

She will fill Jenner's role through April. Liddell previously served as board vice chair from 2013 to 2017. Her current trustee term expires in 2023.

Liddell also is the former president and current board member of the Illinois Community College Trustee Association.

"Our focus right now is to support the efforts of the Liebman Science Center construction so that it is fully operational for students next fall," Liddell said.

The board also appointed Tom Allen to fill Jenner's vacant trustee seat until the April 2019 consolidated election when a permanent trustee will be elected to serve a full-term.

Allen, of Lakewood, is a member of the Friends of McHenry County College Foundation board and previously served as an adjunct fire service instructor for more than 20 years. He is an MCC alumnus and ran for trustee in 2017.

MCC is governed by a seven-member board elected to staggered 6-year terms, and has one nonvoting student trustee serving a one-year term.
