Lake County sheriff's office seeks accreditation

The Lake County sheriff's office is seeking accreditation through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, officials said. ILEAP is an accreditation program sponsored by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police. Law enforcement agency policies and procedures are evaluated and procedures are evaluated against established criteria. The compliance with those criteria is then verified by an independent authoritative body, the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Council. More than 20 law enforcement agencies are currently accredited through ILEAP, but Lake County is the first Illinois sheriff's office to seek accreditation through ILEAP.
