Aurora man charged in drug overdose death

An Aurora man has been charged in the drug overdose death of a Montgomery man found Sunday at the DeKalb oasis on I-88, according to Illinois State Police.

The DeKalb County state's attorney's office has charged Victor D. Peters, 31, with one count of drug-induced homicide.

Authorities said Peters sold a fentanyl-laced drug to Nicholas J. Hessling, who was found dead just before noon in a bathroom at the 7-Eleven inside the tollway oasis. Toxicology reports concluded that Hessling's death was caused by high concentrations of fentanyl.

Peters was arrested at his home Friday morning with the cooperation of the Aurora Police Department, according to state police, and he is being held in DeKalb County, where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
