Take a night hike in Lake County in forest preserves

Hikers, skiers and snowshoers can get evening exercise along solar-lit trails at Old School Forest Preserve in Libertyville or Lakewood Forest Preserve in Wauconda. The trails are 1.3 miles and 1.65 miles respectively. Old School is on the east side of St. Mary's Road, south of Route 176. The Lakewood trail is adjacent to the Winter Sports Area on the east side of Fairfield Road, south of Route 176. Trails and adjacent parking lots will remain open until 9 p.m. daily through March 11. Bicycle and equestrian traffic is not permitted after sunset. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed. Rangers patrol regularly. Visit www.lcfpd.org/.
