Police investigating multiple Mount Prospect burglaries

Mount Prospect police are searching for suspects in two residential burglaries that occurred Tuesday night, officials said.

One burglary occurred on the 800 block of Heritage Drive, near the intersection of East Kensington and North Wolf Roads. One or more suspects entered through an unlocked window and took multiple purses containing cash and credit cards, according to police.

Another occurred on the 1700 block of Regency Court, in the same subdivision about a half-mile away from the Heritage Drive burglary. Police said suspects entered a vehicle parked in the driveway and took power tools, then entered the house through a side door and removed a purse containing cash and credit cards.

In both instances, the homeowners were asleep upstairs while the suspects broke in, authorities said.

Police also said they located property taken from the two homes in nearby garbage cans.

The victims' neighbors contacted police to report they had security footage of multiple suspects attempting to enter their homes the same night, authorities said. In one video, a male suspect is seen wearing a knitted hat, a light-colored jacket and dark pants. In the second video, a different male suspect is described as wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt and light pants.

Police are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for any information that leads to an arrest.
