Cook County forest preserve hosts events to mark solstice

The Forest Preserves of Cook County will host a Solstice Bonfire and Wood Masonry Workshop on Saturday at Camp Dan Beard in Northbrook.

The workshop, which takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., will give participants a chance to learn the basic principles of cordwood construction, including structural design, wood choice and prep, and mixing mortar and building a cordwood wall.
