I was drawn to photograph this bridge, because of the dramatic contrast between the highlights and the shadows. The warmth comes from taking the picture shortly before sunset. This is the pedestrian walkway across the Fox River just south of Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles.

I took this picture of the Bixby bridge, which is a part of California's coastal highway 1, in September of 2016. This bridge crosses Bixby creek where the creek enters the Pacific Ocean. Much of this highway was closed for months this past year because of a washout and a bridge failure.

While visiting Sanibel Island, Florida last week, we were able to see a variety of beautiful birds around the island. This pelican was one of our favorites. We found it entertaining watching him hunt for fish to eat. I have to say, he was very successful!
