Two admit taking guns, collectibles, tools from Mount Prospect storage facility

An Elk Grove Village man and a woman from North Carolina pleaded guilty to taking guns, collectibles, power tools and other items from a Mount Prospect storage facility.

Brett Masterson, of the 2400 block of Landmeier Road, was sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay $654 in fines in exchange for pleading guilty to burglary charges, court records show.

He received credit for 102 days in custody.

His co-defendant, Heather L. Sechrist of the 100 block of King Edward St., in Hillsborough, North Carolina, pleaded guilty to the same charge in exchange for 100 days in jail and two years of intensive drug probation, prosecutors say. She was also ordered to pay $659 in fines.

Prosecutors said video surveillance at the facility, located in the 1700 block of West Central Road, showed Masterson, 42, and Sechrist, 31, in possession of the stolen items.

Authorities did not indicate whether the items were recovered.
