Two taken to hospital after early morning fire in Lombard

Two people were treated at an area hospital early Thursday morning after a fire caused more than $200,000 damage to a two-story house on the 200 block of W. Crystal Ave. in Lombard, authorities said.

A resident of the home called firefighters at 2:15 a.m. to report a fire in the basement and emergency crews arrived to find flames coming from the house.

Battalion Chief Al Greene said firefighters rescued one resident from the home's elevated front porch and two residents were taken for treatment.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Lombard was assisted by firefighters from Addison, Elmhurst, Villa Park, and York Center.
