Glendale Heights police: Man tried to lure kids into car

Glendale Heights police are searching for a man in his mid-30s who tried to lure two children into a vehicle Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The youngsters, ages 13 and 11, just left their school bus around 4:45 p.m. on Shorewood Drive west of Bloomingdale Road when they were approached by a man in a red, four-door vehicle who offered them food, Doritos and candy, authorities said Thursday.

The youths declined and told the man they would call police. He then drove off south on Bloomingdale Road, authorities said.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-30s, with a thin build, light brown hair, freckles and no facial hair. He was wearing a red jersey with a black sweater or sweatshirt underneath. The vehicle was described as an older four-door sedan of an unknown make or model.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call Glendale Heights police at (630) 260-6070.
