Sex offender imprisoned for not telling authorities he moved to Aurora

A former Cook County man is headed to prison again for failing to register as a sex offender after moving to Aurora.

Keith L. Willis, 62, was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison by Kane County Associate Judge Linda S. Abrahamson. She convicted him in September of failure to report a change of address as a sex offender.

Between September and November 2016, he failed to register with the Aurora Police Department, according to prosecutors. He was living on the 200 block of East New York Street, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.

He is required to register because he was convicted in 1990 in Cook County of seven counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to the release.

On the Illinois Sex Offender registry, he is classified as a sexual predator. A victim in the crime was 8 years old. According to a 2002 Chicago Tribune article, Willis and a girlfriend lured underage girls, on two occasions, to his home in Harvey and sexually assaulted them.

He was also convicted in 2003 in federal court of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to just shy of 3½ years in prison. In 2012 he was convicted in Cook County of failure to register and sentenced to three years in prison. In 2014 Willis was convicted of the same charge in Will County and sentenced to two years in prison.

The Illinois registry notes Willis sometimes uses the name "Lex Fonteyne." In 2012, ABC 7 Chicago reported he lived in Indiana and used it as a pen name for eight books he had written and on social media websites.

Willis is eligible for day-for-day sentencing and will receive credit for 375 days he spent in Kane County jail.
