Victim identified in Antioch Township hit-and-run crash

Lake County authorities Monday identified Stephanie Dokken, 26, as the woman killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run crash in Antioch Township.

Authorities say Dokken, of Youngstown, Arizona, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet north on Route 59 near Grass Lake Road at about 1:37 a.m. when it was rear-ended by a 2007 Volvo.

The collision forced Dokken's vehicle off the road, where it collided with a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Preliminary autopsy results confirm that she died due to multiple traumatic injuries related to a motor vehicle crash," Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said in a news release Monday.

The Volvo also went off the road and hit a tree. Its driver, a 41-year-old Antioch Township man, fled the scene on foot, but was later located at his nearby home with the help of a police dog.

Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Christopher Covelli said Monday charges are pending the results of an ongoing investigation into the crash by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
