Shoppers find simple pleasures at Lake County craft show

With the retail crush of Black Friday out of the way and Cyber Monday still on the horizon, holiday gift buyers found a simpler, more personal shopping experience this weekend at the annual Holiday Arts & Craft Show at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake.

The three-day event offered shoppers a chance to peruse the offerings at more than 300 booths filled with handmade arts and crafts, seasonal gifts, plush items, florals and fine art.

"Everything you see here is handcrafted by the exhibitors. It is very popular show in the community because it is not exhibitors that they see from show to show," said Donna Hansen, owner of Step By Step Promotions. "People come from all over and they make it a holiday affair. They look forward to doing it every year."

More than 10,000 people were expected to attend the show shopping for handmade offerings that include unique lamps, quilts, Christmas tree ornaments and more.
