Libertyville ushers in holiday season with tree lighting

Downtown Libertyville lit up Friday night with the village's annual tree-lighting ceremony as carolers ushered in the holiday season.

Santa Claus made an appearance to light the tree in Cook Park, delighting visiting children and adults. He stayed for children to have their picture taken with the man of the hour.

Festivities included music, singing and holiday-themed entertainment.

Visitors were able to tour the Ansel B. Cook Mansion and patronize downtown merchants offering extended hours for shopping and dining.
