Fire leaves Lombard house uninhabitable

A previous version left out the name of the street.

A fire Wednesday evening caused about $200,000 damage to a bi-level Lombard house.

No one was injured and the owners were not home at the time, according to Lombard fire Lt. Dan Volz.

Firefighters were called at 8:37 p.m. to the home on the 1100 block of South School Street, near Roosevelt Road. The house and a car parked near it were both on fire.

Firefighters were unable to get into the house due to a large amount of items being stored in it, Volz said.

The home is deemed uninhabitable.

Firefighters from the York Center, Villa Park, Oakbrook Terrace, Oak Brook, Elmhurst and Lisle-Woodridge departments and districts assisted.
