Police: 'Suspicious' injuries found on Round Lake Park infant

Suspicious injuries, including a head wound, were discovered on the body of a 7-week-old Round Lake Park infant whose death is now the subject of a criminal investigation, authorities said Tuesday.

The child, identified as Andrea S. Lara-Heidbrick, was pronounced dead Monday at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she had been taken after she was found having trouble breathing early that morning.

Lake County Major Crimes Task Force spokesman Sgt. Chris Covelli said Tuesday an autopsy conducted by the Lake County coroner's officer did not determine a cause of death. Additional testing is required, Covelli said.

Officers were called to an apartment in the 0-100 block of East Main Street about 3:10 a.m. Monday on a report that the girl was having difficulty breathing.

Round Lake Park police requested the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force in the investigation.
