Neighbor dispute leads to stabbing near Gurnee
An ongoing dispute between Gurnee-area neighbors turned violent Monday, leaving one man suffering from a stab wound to his chest and another behind bars facing a felony charge, Lake County authorities said Tuesday.
Michael T. Horton, 63, of the 34400 block of North Almond Road in Warren Township, was in custody Tuesday at the Lake County jail on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Lake County sheriff's deputies went to the Almond Road address at 4:09 p.m. in response to a reported stabbing. When they arrived, they found a 58-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest, sheriff's police said. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Authorities said the stabbing victim had an ongoing dispute with Horton, who lived in the same building. The two were arguing about 4 p.m. Monday when Horton stabbed the victim, according to the sheriff's office.
Horton was being held on $20,000 bail Tuesday. He's scheduled to appear in court Nov. 28 on the felony charge. If convicted, he faces a maximum two to five years in prison.
