London Skye boutique opens in Naperville

London Skye, a new independently owned boutique that takes its inspiration from England, opened on Water Street in downtown Naperville.

A grand opening celebration took place over the weekend.

London Skye is a trendy contemporary women's and men's clothing store that features one-of-a-kind pieces and international brands to the fashion-forward customer. Owner Joellen Elam has used her 19 years of advertising and fashion experience garnered from working on such brands as Levi's, William-Sonoma, Nordstrom, Nicole Miller and Evereve to hone a boutique with an English vibe.

Elam lived two years in London before moving back to the United States and settling in the western suburbs. London Skye's interior reflects hints of British and equestrian charm, and the vibe is highly attentive and family-friendly, she said.

"I think locals and travelers alike are seeking everyday casual styles and evening out clothing that is unique, beautiful but attainable," she said. "With the Hotel Indigo, Elements events space, 64 Wine Bar and the eclectic collection of restaurants at Water Street, this felt like the perfect spot for London Skye," Elam added.

London Skye features premium denim, shirts and tops, dresses, shoes, accessories and gifts in a fun atmosphere with personable stylists to help you find the right look for you, the business owner said. "Women love the fashion-forward contemporary styles available in downtown Naperville, but what about trendy looks for their husbands and boyfriends? London Skye will complement the classic and traditional men's clothing available in Naperville with prices everyone can enjoy," Elam says.

Elam has two daughters, who have lent their middle names to the name of the store. "Naperville is style-conscious and family-friendly at the same time," she said. "I fell in love with the downtown. It's charming and brings out both Napervillians and out-of-towners looking for a unique shopping experience. We're also looking forward to serving visitors in to see family, for weddings, and all the wonderful events the community has to offer."
