North Aurora extends leaf pickup

Because leaves are dropping late this year and many are still on the trees, North Aurora is extending its curbside leaf collection program by two weeks.

There will be an additional pickup the week of Nov. 27 for the west side of the village, and a pickup the week of Dec. 4 on the east side.

Leaves must be at the curb on the Monday of each week. Keep the leaves away from mailboxes, streetlight poles, ditches and other obstacles.

Pickup will depend on the weather, such as snow, rain or temperatures below freezing.

There won't be any further extensions, as the village will then be removing leaf-vactor equipment on trucks and outfitting the trucks with snowplows.

Waste Management has also extended free bagged-leaf pickup to include Dec. 1 and Dec. 8. No sticker will be needed. It is only for leaves. Yard waste pickup ends Nov. 25.
