Mt. Prospect police investigating theft of unlocked car, car burglaries

Several unlocked cars were burgled and one unlocked car was stolen last week in the same Mount Prospect neighborhood - and police are trying to find out who did it.

The burglaries were discovered on the morning of November 8 in the neighborhood south of Central Road and west of Main Street. The car was stolen from the 500 block of Marina Street. The stolen car was unlocked and the key fob was left in the vehicle. The stolen car was abandoned in Chicago and found by the Chicago Police Department.

"One of the best ways to keep your vehicle from being burglarized is to lock your doors and remove your valuables from the vehicle," Crime Prevention Officer Greg Sill said in a news release issued Thursday.

Any individual with specific knowledge of these crimes is encouraged to call (847) 870-5654 to speak to investigators.
