Gordon Korman talks about life as a best-selling author with Wredling students

New York Times best-selling author Gordon Korman, who has written more than 75 books, talked about his life and career as an author Wednesday with Wredling Middle School students in St. Charles.

Korman began by autographing copies of his books that were purchased at the Wredling book fair, then gave two presentations in the gymnasium to groups of the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.

Korman's writing career began at age 12 and was inspired by a seventh-grade English assignment that was later published.

"I always start off with something real, but then I unleash my imagination to make it more exciting, funnier, or a better story," Korman said.
