Three years in prison for Streamwood man who fired into van

A 28-year-old Streamwood man who authorities say fired into a van from the sport utility vehicle he was riding in pleaded guilty on Monday to reckless discharge of a firearm.

In exchange for his guilty plea, Marco Rojas, who authorities identified as a gang member during his bond hearing last year, was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay $459 in fines. Rojas received credit for 186 days in custody.

At Rojas' bond hearing, prosecutors said a witness saw Rojas lean from his vehicle and fire into a white work van on Oct. 28, 2016, as the vehicles traveled down Sutton Road near Schaumburg Road.

No one was injured in the shooting, authorities said.
